Q: What Is PLR?
A: PLR is short for Private Label Rights. It’s content that can be bought for a reasonable price and used by multiple people. It can be in the form of long or short articles, sales copy, blog posts, email autoresponders, graphics, audio, video, and even software. You are given the “raw” file for editing. You may modify the content however you choose and claim the product as your own.
Q: Why not hire a ghostwriter and keep all the content exclusive to one person?
A: Ghostwritten material costs much more than Private Label Rights content. To hire a decent ghostwriter, you’re looking at paying $10 or more per page. PLR can cost as little as a dollar or less per page. If you’re on a shoestring budget would you prefer to pay $5 for a package of 5 PLR articles or $50-100 for 5 exlusive ghostwritten pages?
Q: Doesn’t PLR cause problems with duplicate content?
A: There are people on both sides of the fence on this issue, but the basic findings say that duplicate content isn’t an issue unless you put the same content on more than one page of your own domain. If it’s on someone else’s domain or two different domains that you own, that’s no problem.
Q: Who owns the rights to the content?
A: Everyone who buys it has rights to the content, but the seller chooses the specific rights. Some sellers may have specific rules about where you can use it or how you can use it. You can’t claim any unique rights to PLR that you buy, but you have the right to use it in accordance with the seller’s rules.
Most sellers have a basic checklist of rights for their buyers. Always be sure to check the terms of use or rights for each PLR package you purchase. Never assume the rights of one seller are the same as the rights from another. Here’s an example of a PLR rights checklist that you might find:

Q: What are Master Resell Rights (MRR)?
A: Master Resale Rights allows you to resell a product an unlimited number of times without paying royalties to the original owner. You may also grant your customer the rights to resell the product. You and your customers do not have the right to edit the product and there are often pricing requirements.
